Roles before goals

- CARTOON OF JOHN LAWRENCE SORIA -

Not unless there are proof should the accused pay for the accusation. Vice President Leni Robredo indeed shouldn’t pay the 7.4 Million balance since the ekction protest coming from Bongbong Marcos isn’t confirmed yet.

As Bongbong Marcos released his election protest and demand for a recount, he chose three specific cities to be under the process. Carmines Sur, Ilo-ilo and Negros Oriental. If Leni Robredo still wins in the recounting, the case will be dismissed.

Not as simple as it seems

The death of the Kian de los Santos is a case that should indicate the investigation of the  war on drugs in the country.  Justice Sec. Aguirre’s order on NBI to conduct deeper investigation is a proper response to the case.

Kian’s death at Caloocan City on August 16 is still under investigation and it has to be investigated since he is young to be included in such cases and be killed. There could be more of them and they need help.

Obligation vs. Conflict

The conflict between the statement of the President and the statement of the vice president about the war on drugs seems to create more tension in the country.

Our leaders failing to show unity between them would actually affect a whole country at the very end of the day. The country will be divided rather than united.

Who killed who?

- CARTOON OF JOHN LAWRENCE SORIA -

Hand-cuffed. Dragged in a dark alley. Two heavy hands griping on his arms, he was forced and he pleaded. People saw him but they knew the two heavy-handed were authorized so they did not do anything. Until the trigger was pulled, a noise came from a corner. A seventeen-year-old boy was shot by the policemen.

Kian Delos Santos, a Grade 11 student from Caloocan City is one of the eleven persons killed in an anti-drug operation in Caloocan last Wednesday. He was found dead with a gun in his left hand but his father, Saldy said that Kian was not left-handed. The teenager’s dream was to be a policeman but the policemen who killed him, killed his own dream.

Sea of ownership

“Guard what you have and don’t let anyone steal it.” This is the current situation of the West Philippine Sea when they spotted Chinese vessels again with the help of the satellite image.

The fight between the China and Philippines for the ownership of the island seems to be coming back. The Ships from China were found around the island in the West Philippine Sea.

Running and fighting for their lives because of drugs there are 700 extra judicial killing cases yet only one case has been reached in the court and not even half have been filed in the court. The 700 ejk isn’t even half of the 10,000 to 12,000 people who died according to the data of CHR.

If this is a boxing match then it is already in the second round. CHR chairperson Chito Gascon won’t back down to the fight of the human rights advocates.

Potchi is one of the biggest inspirations of other companies specially candy companies not only in the Philippines but in the whole world, the company by which turned its dreams to reality.

In 1897, a machine-spun cotton candy was invented and back then, “Fairy Floss” was first introduced to public in 1904 World’s Fair and sold 68,655 boxes at 25¢ or P78 per box that would cost $6 or P300 today.

As generations pass by, the name ‘Fairy Floss’ faded away when New Orleans dentist, Joseph Lascaux invented a similar cotton candy machine in 1921. Lascaux then named the treat “Cotton Candy”.

Cotton machines was not sufficient at that time to produce widespread distribution of the product, cotton candy was only produced on a small scale. Then, in 1972, a cotton candy machine for automatic manufacture and packaging was implemented.

Today, cotton candy is available in many different flavors including banana, raspberry, vanilla, watermelon, and chocolate. Both artificial and natural flavors may be used for the production of these flavors.

Candy makers and brands are keeping its intensity of selling and making its candies continue to grow in the market, and this lead to very creative inventions, including very unusual candy flavors.

M&Ms is a famous candy brand which produces different flavors to make its products more unique, in fact due to its experimentation of different flavors, Dulce de leche flavor of one of their treats were quickly discontinued.

But in 2010, they introduced a serious product for sweet-and-salty palates which is Pretzel M&Ms, a round little pretzel ball covered in that iconic candy coating.

“I find it really unusual, I do not know if everyone would like it, but since it is still on the market today, I think we should not judge the treat and try it first.” A 15 year old candy lover Patrick Danganan said.

The said candy flavor continues to thrive in the candy industry, M&Ms through all the comments keeps experimenting such flavors that they think would benefit both them and the consumers.

Candies can come in different kinds of flavors and unusual or not, candies will continue to add inventions and unique characteristics to the development of the food industry.

It is considered that too much intake of sugar or sweet foods can cause diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and more. But even though this information is already said and known by the public, people continues to do such and does not know how sugar really affect all aspects of an individual.

Main source of added sugar are found on foods such as candies, sugary drinks, sweetened dairy and baked goods, but savory foods like protein bars, bread and tomato sauce contain sugar that most people may not know about for a reason that sugars are hidden on names like corn syrup, agave nectar, palm sugar, cane juice, or sucrose.
